APC Preparatory Course

APC Preparatory Course

CAA in conjunction with APT offers the APT APC Programme. This Professional Programme specifically addresses candidate’s requirements and offers you a top-class opportunity to develop professional competence and the best possible chance of passing the APC. The primary objective of the APT Programme is to develop the professional competence of candidates to a level appropriate for new entrants to the Chartered Accountancy profession, thus this prepares candidates for the ICAZ APC exam

The APC is an Assessment of Professional Competence and focuses on the integration of technical skills within ‘real life’ circumstances, on pervasive skills such as communication, on understanding the ‘big picture’ (the business and the environment in which the business operates) and on strategy, risk management and governance. Whilst aspects of professional competence are developed in the university programmes and in training programmes, our Programme focusses fully on developing your competence to the level required of a CA.

This Programme is an Online Programme supplemented by Blended Learning designed to suit candidate’s learning style and work circumstances. Individuals learn differently and have developed different learning styles; thus we are a fully online programme with optional physical, face-to-face contact sessions related to critical classes. These are held in Harare. As the acquisition of professional competence is so fundamentally different from the skills most candidates have already developed in their academic programmes, we believe that candidates benefit significantly from the Blended Learning Programme’s direct interaction with presenters.

Program Outline

The Programme is divided into seven modules.

  1. Module 1 is introductory and developmental (formative).
  2. Modules 2 and 3 continue development but add formal assessment (introducing summative assessment but still principally formative),
  3. Module 4 enables further development at a deeper level.
  4. Modules 5 and 6 focus on formal assessment (summative)
  5. Module 7 is board course preparation and revision.
This pertains to first time candidates who will be writing ITC in June 2024 as they become eligible for the APT Catch-up Programme. Candidates who are writing the ITC in June 2024 and would have completed 20 month’s training before the APC exam will qualify for the APT catch-up programme and should enrol for APT 2024 Candidates who Pass the ITC will continue with the Programme and:
  1. Become liable for the Programme Fee.
  2. Will be eligible to write the APC 2024 if they Pass the APT 2024 Programme.
  3. Candidates who Fail the June 2024 ITC will be required to withdraw from the Programme and will NOT be liable for ANY Programme Fee.

This is a specialised Board Course tailored for candidates who encountered setbacks during the APC 2023. If a candidate holds a valid APT certificate obtained from 2022 onwards, the candidate is eligible to enrol for this course. However, the Board Course is extended to candidates regardless of whether they obtained their certification from APT or a competitor’s programme.

Once registered for the Repeat Board Course please send your latest valid Programme Certificate to support@apt.co.za

It’s important to acknowledge that candidates who last completed and passed an APC Programme before 2022 must register and complete the main APT Programme in 2024, given that the three-year validity of their certification expired in 2023.
