The CTA programme is an important stage in your professional journey, equipping you with advanced technical knowledge, professional judgement and practical competencies required to progress towards the CA(Z) qualification.

1 Year Accelerated CTA Programme
The 12-month accelerated CTA programme is designed for well-prepared accounting graduates who wish to complete their CTA studies within one year. This option follows an intensive learning schedule, concentrating teaching, practice and assessments into a faster weekly programme.
18-Month CTA Programme
The 18-month CTA programme offers a more extended learning schedule, providing students with additional time between topics to consolidate their understanding. It is particularly suitable for students balancing their studies with work, travel or family responsibilities.
Both programmes cover the same five CTA modules, maintain the same academic standard and provide the same effective teaching time. The difference is in the pace and distribution of teaching.
CAA offers January and July intakes.
A. 1 Year Accelerated CTA Programme
Programme Duration: 12 Months
The accelerated CTA programme is ideal for students who are ready for a focused and intensive academic experience.

Who Is This Programme For?
The 18-month CTA programme is best suited to students balancing substantial work, travel or family responsibilities, or those who need more time to consolidate their learning.
The Retakers Program is designed as an online session, providing support and additional resources for individuals who are retaking the CTA program. The key features of the Retakers Program include:
- Online Format: The program is conducted entirely online, allowing retakers to access the sessions remotely. Online delivery provides flexibility for participants to engage with the content from any location.
- Minimum of 4 Sessions: The Retakers Program consists of a minimum of four sessions per semester. Each session is structured to last for two hours, allowing for focused and targeted review of key concepts.
- Semester-Based Structure:The program aligns with the academic semester structure, providing retakers with ongoing support throughout the designated time frame.
- Review and Reinforcement:The sessions are designed to review and reinforce critical concepts covered in the CTA program. Retakers can benefit from targeted discussions, clarification of challenging topics, and additional practice opportunities.
- Interactive Learning: The online sessions foster interactive learning, allowing participants to engage with instructors and peers. Interactive elements may include discussions, Q&A sessions, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Focused Support:The Retakers Program aims to provide focused support tailored to the specific needs of individuals retaking components of the CTA program. Instructors may address common challenges, offer targeted resources, and provide guidance for improvement.
- Flexible Access:Participants can access recorded sessions or other resources at their convenience, offering flexibility in managing their study schedule.
To qualify for admission into the Certificate in Theory of Accounting (CTA) programme at Chartered Accountants Academy, applicants must meet the applicable academic entry requirements.
CAA recognises different academic and professional pathways into the CTA programme.
1. Accounting Degree Route
Applicants must possess:
An Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
A minimum of Upper Second Class (2.2) or better.
At least 360 credits.
Advanced-level coverage of the following subjects:
Management Accounting and Finance.
Financial Reporting.
Taxation.
Auditing and Assurance.
2. General Accountant (Zimbabwe) – GA(Z)
Holders of the General Accountant (Zimbabwe), GA(Z), qualification may also apply for admission into CTA, subject to the applicable admission requirements.
3. Accounting Foundations for CTA/GA(Z)
Applicants who have completed Accounting Foundations for CTA/GA(Z), formerly BCTA, may also qualify for admission, subject to the applicable admission requirements.
4. Other Professional Qualifications
Full or part holders of other professional programmes must request an individual evaluation of their qualifications and prior learning to determine their eligibility.
5. Transfer Students and Returning Applicants
Students transferring from other tuition providers or returning to the programme must submit:
Official academic transcripts.
Module content.
Assessment records.
Examination attempt records.
These documents will be evaluated to determine eligibility, recognised learning and the appropriate starting point.

Applicants accepted for CTA must have relevant accounting qualifications obtained within the preceding five years for CTA part-time.
